Minimum Day December 21, 2018 & Winter Closure

Dear Students and Families,

On behalf of the entire Department of Alternative Education, we wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season with family and loved ones.  As educators, we are so proud of your children and all of their many special talents they bring to their learning each day, which make up the exceptional culture of our entire department.  We are truly thankful to be working with such amazing children and supportive parents.

As we approach the winter recess, please be aware of the specific minimum day and school campus closures that involve your children:

Friday, December 21, 2018: Minimum School Day for All Students:

  • Learning Centers:
    • 7:00 a.m. – 11:10 a.m. – Depending on which 2 hour session your child attends, all Learning Centers will be closed at 11:10 a.m.

OR (depending on your child’s schedule)

  • 7:55 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. – This schedule only applies to the Montgomery High School Learning Center and the San Ysidro High School Learning Center
  • Independent Study, Home Hospital Education and Teen Parent Program:
    • 7:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

OR (depending on your child’s schedule)

  • 8:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • Community Day School:
    • 9:15 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Schools and Services Closed for Winter Holiday Recess (see specific schedule for your child):

Also, please be aware the entire Sweetwater Union High School District will be closed to students for the winter holiday recess starting Monday, December 24, 2018 until Tuesday, January 15, 2019.  Schools and educational services for students will resume normal hours of operation on Wednesday, January 16, 2018.

  • Learning Centers and Teen Parent Education: All Learning Center and Teen Parent Education students return to school on Monday, January 7, 2019.  This is one week earlier than all other services and schools in the district.  However, schools and services are closed for all students, including Learning Centers and Teen Parent Education on Monday, January 14-15, 2019.  All students return to school on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

Monday, January 21, 2019: Schools and Services Closed / Martin Luther King Holiday: Additionally, please be aware the entire Sweetwater Union High School District will be closed to students on Monday, January 21, 2019 in observance of the Martin Luther King Holiday.  Schools and educational services for students will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
